"in your face!” is a pop-up-performance in public space; both concert and dance performance. The four performers meet an unprepared audience where they are: What happens when performing art appears where no stage is expected, and the audience hasn’t actively sought it out? This is street performance, but not in the classic "street show" way. Instead, it explores movement, sound, site sensitivty and interactivity. The piece meets people where they are, those who stop to watch and those who just pass by. It transforms the public space and gives the spontaneous viewers an unexpected experience. The work is improvised; engaging, open, introvert, performative, rhythmic and ambient.
The project is also a form of dance activism with an agenda of bringing more dance and art to more people, both as a general vision and a concrete goal. Movement and dance are universal forms of human expression and should have more importance in many societies. Unfortunately, a lot of people say “I can’t dance” or “I don’t like to dance”, but society would be richer if dance were more valued.
The performance has received funding from the Arts Council, the Municipality of Oslo and the Fund For Performing Artists (FFUK) and has been touring in Norway in 2023, 2024 and 2025.
